Maxi cab fares are generally higher than standard sedan taxis due to the larger vehicle size and passenger capacity. When travelling on a metered fare, a maxi cab flag fall typically starts from around $7.70, followed by approximately $3.50 per kilometre, plus time-based charges. This means the meter continues to run when the vehicle is stopped in traffic, such as at traffic lights or during congestion.
For this reason, we strongly recommend choosing a fixed-price maxi cab option whenever possible. Fixed pricing allows you to know the total cost upfront, regardless of traffic conditions or delays, making it a more predictable and stress-free option for group travel.
Metered fares are generally suitable when hailing a maxi cab from taxi ranks, the street, or Perth Airport taxi ranks, where a fixed price may not be arranged in advance.
